John Francis Anthony Pastorius III (December 1, 1951 ? September 21, 1987)

Wow! It has been that long. I'm getting old.

Jaco is still missed_______ But his influence and Soul will remain immortal . As he would have said Write it down !
-
I have a couple favorite Jaco moments. One is when he's playing along to a pre recorded track of himself with the scroll bass. The track stops, and he keeps soloing to the chord changes in his head.
Another time would be with Birele, live in Japan. Jaco's chops were through the roof on that album.

I agree, Jaco & Birele had good musical chemistry . I will check out the live in Japan stuff again .I also like the live in Italy recording .I have lots of Jaco recordings that are rather obscure , including Holiday for Pans.

Just after the first day of Autumn(Fall)
Missed greatly but the music is always there

I played in a trio in the mid 1990's with a great Jazz /Blues guitarist from South Carolina . We did The Chicken and a few other tunes that had a Birele & Jaco vibe to it . It was too much fun . We really had lots of freedom for improvisation and interpretation in that trio; Guitar , Bass & Drums .We played quite a few gigs in the San Francisco Bay Area in California .
