Title: Who has the most, how many?
Post by: wookie on November 07, 2012, 11:28:03 AM
I'm wondering who has 1) the most Alembics in quantity and 2) who has the most expensive? Just wondering, I think Jason Newsted had/has 10 (ish). I have 5 (waiting for the 5th one to arrive) I know I'm no where near the most in either measurement.... So here you go fella's let's  here you brag I opened the door for you. Jabber away. I actually want to hear you babble about how many/ what they are! Pics are welcome too

There are some with much more on this board, my bet is that there are many Excels in the largest collection.

I have pictures of 7 Newsted Alembics on my site: here (http://painandgrief.com/aaa/fcbasssite/htmfiles/jason.htm target=_blank)
I think Mica or Susan said he also had an Anniversary and a/some standard Series II basses and there might be multiple copies of the basses that are on my site (I think Mica said something like that)

I'm quite happy with my 5 (and a half) but would love to have many more :-)

Picture of the Rami collection is still pending, this is your chance! :-) (Please do not stack 'em all like I did)

Most expensive would most likely be the Series II doubleneck and/or the 25th Sterling Anniversary ($25K in 1999)

I'm not sure if the Sterling Anniversary is still available (Featured custom section says 17 are still available) but that would be a pricy puppy today :-)
If Mica comments: I always wondered if the Sterling Anniversary is/was available as five/six string?

Dave, I've got my eyes on another of your guitars.... Around february, if you still have it then of course. Nice collection fc!
I don't have pics of mine but I have a spoiler 4, an elan 5, an Orion 5 (still waiting on that since April guys) a Europa 4 and Europa 6. Yes I sold my soul for them and I'm very much not wealthy. Keep em coming. I'm pretty sure I stalked mica more than any human about Jason newsted basses back in the 90's ha ha! It's pretty sad looking back at that but thanks for tolerating the phone calls and sending the quotes... I hung those on my wall as a kid!

I suppose after all these years, I really do owe you guys a family portrait.  I just have to figure away to set them all up in one place!

You could cheat a little :-)

See my profile
I had a stand on a table with the curtains as background, took a picture of each bass and made them into one picture with Photoshop.
If you use a more solid background and you can make the cheat more credible.
You only need one stand for an infinite number of basses :-)
It's best (always btw) to use a tripod for your camera and use the self timer if available.

Touch? Bill :-)

Dave: DON'T SELL!
I used the Prodigy tonite with my new band, sounded great.
If you're not happy with the sound, bypass the preamp (ie pickups straight to output)
In my opinion it sounded way better than with the preamp, very powerfull P pickup (!)

That's a nice job on the pic.

Wookie, just shoot me an email in Feb, it is just sitting in the case, like it has most of the time.

I NEVER GET TIRED OF SEEING THAT BEAUTIFUL DOUBLENECK!!!

I actually had the chance to buy it from the previous owner.  I don't know WHAT I was thinking by letting it go!!!  But you're an amazing musician Harry, I'm glad it's in such goods hands.

Best regards.

I think that's 29.
Here's a brighter shot.

Although Keavin really owned the funk - these instruments were at the 2009 Alembic Chicago Gathering at Bag End.

Flip, I will have to try running the pickups out past the preamp. However, a few months ago I picked up a pretty used Fender Precision Deluxe that has a lot of great tones for the RnB/Blues/Soul I play in one of the bands I am in. I nails those tones but it does have the Precision big fat neck thing.(http://club.alembic.com/Images/449/143056.jpg)

I had the chance to play Harry's doubleneck when I was in Oakland last month and I can confirm it's a fantastic instrument to play. It doesn't look to bad either :-) Almost made me wish I could play guitar.
