Title: Myths about Alembic
Post by: funkyjazzjunky on November 12, 2012, 10:08:38 AM
I have heard many myths about Alembics over the years. Below are a few of the most memorable:

1.   Too bad they went out of business
2.   I thought about buying one back when they made them by hand
3.   My father has one from when each was hand-made
4.   Their basses sound like guitars
5.   Basses sound like synths
6.   They are difficult to record
7.   They weigh a ton
8.   Wish they made guitars

Any of these sound familiar?

Myths are based on people who don't know the facts and the best one I heard when I told someone I had one was
'Didn't they just copy JD basses?'
I had a wry smile with that one!

9. They may know how to make guitar pickups, but not bass pickups.

yes i actually heard that one from someone who ripped out series electronics in a bass and put in Dimarzios if memory serves me correct.
