Title: Need some help
Post by: pauldo on November 08, 2012, 02:43:04 PM
I was hesitant at first - but figure why not?

My mother in-law is very ill . . . that awful C -word. She is beyond any treatment, in fact the doctors say treatment would be harmful at this point.

So any positive vibes/ prayers that can be sent her way to make her transition as smooth as possible for her from where she is now and to where she is going would be greatly appreciated.

Throw in a good thought or two for the family, my wife is sleepless and her head is amuk with a million thoughts, regrets and desires - I hold steady doing my best to be the calm in this storm.

TIA

Sorry to hear about the health issues your mother-in law is facing.  As a psychologist by profession and someone who has gone through something similar, just being there physically for your wife (even when you don't know what to say) will be something that she will need and appreciate. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones.

My prayers are with you too.  My Father's C really affected me (lost my hair - literally).  Make sure to hug your wife a lot.  My wife's (and kids) love toward me really helped a lot.

Thanks to all for the thoughts.
Robin (mom-in-law)is still in the hospital and is turning south - she wishes to be at home - complications are holding things up.

The most amazing thing happened on Friday. Robin is a huge MatchBox Twenty fan. Apparently the 'Match Heads' (kinda like a Dead Head I guess. . .) found out on a bulletin board that she is gravely ill. Word got out and next thing we know Rob Thomas is calling her from Perth Australia! They talked for 45 minutes and even managed a 3 way conversation with Rob's wife.

I have a new found respect for Rob and this un-selfish act - he really made her VERY happy, I can't find the correct words to express our gratitude to him.

Plus all of the Match Heads are putting more good vibes/ prayers and thoughts out into the universe for Robin.

I sincerly hope this all comes back to her and provides that smooth transition. . . today was a rough day for her.

Paul,
My thoughts are with Robin, you and your family for comfort during this time.  I'm so happy that Rob called to lift her up.  What a great thing for him to do for a fan.

Robin left last night. She was at home with family giving her hospice care. Her dog and cat (Rugby and Squirt) were glad she was at home after being in the hospital for almost 4 weeks.

The journey towards death with her was difficult yet now in hind sight it was also fufilling and strengthening. The family has learned alot - including the sometimes humorous fact that no subject of discussion is taboo to a dieing person.

Thanks to everyone for helping, the roller coaster ride continues but we now approach closer to the acceptance of what was meant to be . . .
