Coming from someone with a degree in audio engineering and 20+ years of practical experience, I can tell you that this video only moderately exaggerates the reality of it.  Of course, now we have Pro Tools.

When asked (standing behind the sound board) what my job is, I've been known to answer Make them sound better than they are.  Mebbe never quite had to deal with that extreme, though - thanks very much.

For 20 years, I used to be the guy installing and making all that expensive German and British equipment work. At the time to hear the beautiful hard fought for tones come out of a Radio or early CD's was quite cringing. Now MP3?S. I miss the Biz? Sometimes
