When one feels the call from within to do what is the essence of ones psyche , the call must be manifested. True love of the ART of bass Playing in this case. I send my sincere best wishes for a victorious victory for Mr. Haden.

Love, love, love Haden's playing. He's been in some amazing, groundbreaking musical spaces.

Ethan Iverson put it this way: I am of the firm opinion that there are two kinds of Ornette Coleman music:  the kind with Charlie Haden on bass, and the kind without.

There are stories about when Ornette first came to NYC with Haden. He'd had the reputation among some that he didn't even really know how to play, but from the very first gig, all the heavies of the NY scene, from MIngus to Leonard Bernstein, showed up. Haden described it as many we are not worthy moments but he made many lifelong fans and friends.

I also love the work he did with Pat Metheny. As with everyone that he plays with, Haden manages to create what seems like a mind meld of understanding. With Pat, it seems to run extra deep.

I hope you get over this, CH. There is much love for you out here.
