Title: Tour of the Factory?
Post by: mike1762 on June 04, 2008, 06:04:44 AM
Mica

My wife and I will be in San Francisco September 6, 7, & 8th.  (we will be the ones with flowers in our hair).  Would it be possible to arrange a tour of the facilities?

I was in the area a few years back and Alembic graciously offered us a tour even though it was a holiday weekend.  Give them a call and see what's possible.  They're very generous and accomodating people.

This is a very VERY old thread. I will be in the Santa Rosa area in June and I was wondering if they still do tours. I believe they moved to outside Santa Rosa but do they still do tours?

Indeed they've moved to nearby Rohnert Park. They still do factory tours, see http://www.alembic.com/family/directions.html

As an aside,  there is a great sandwich shop just before you get to the factory.

Yes - we do tours provided we have someone available to guide you. Since we're small and vacations happen, just let us know when you'll be here and we will try our best to show you around.

I think Jazzy is talking about the Sonoma Sourdough Sandwiches joint around the corner. They are awesome.

Fridays are sometimes tricky, but with this much notice I'm sure we can show you the place sometime between 10 am - 4 pm. It take about an hour to see the shop, and then you can play instruments in the showroom if you like.

Mica,

What works best for your team. We can tour before or after the visit to Sonoma Sourdough Sandwiches. :)

You won't be disappointed with any of those places both provide custom, handmade products. :-).
Mica, have you thought of liaising with the Sonoma Sourdough, to create a custom "Hippy Sandwich" option for factory visitors. Might be fun :-)

+1 on the Hippy Sandwich thought.

+2 on the hippie sammach. Also, since Alembic has a definition of an apparatus used in distillation, have you thought about teaming with a distillery to provide some Alembic adult beverages? Or maybe even a winery since you are in wine country. You could have names like Tribute, Essence, even a Europa. Just a thought.

OMG Thank you Mica from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful tour and history lesson of Alembic. I really did not know what to expect but my expectations were far exceeded. My wife, not a musician, told me I was like a kid in the candy store. That may have been true as the old saying goes " the difference between a boy and a man is the price of his toys".

Well, no pics of the sourdough sandwich but is was delicious and I 2nd the recommendation for this place. I tried posting some pics but it's telling me the files are too large. I did post a couple on the Alembic fan page on Facebook. The new bass and the new acoustic 6 stringer. Beautiful.
