Title: Pickmaster
Post by: David Houck on May 17, 2013, 03:23:48 PM
This may have been mentioned before, but I'm just now running across it.  It's a really neat idea; and I thought some of you might find it interesting, and perhaps one or two of you might find it worth trying.  Pickmaster (http://www.pickmaster.co.uk/)

Although I'm a finger-player myself, I'm not going to judge others that play with a pick.  Some styles (like punk) are really suited for pick-style playing.  This product might be of some use to them.

They seem a good idea for recycling various materials into your own picks. I have seen them on ebay before and did contact a seller about them because I wanted to know if they would cut material 3mm thick as I use that size dunlop stubby plectrums for guitar playing. Sadly the seller I contacted said they would not.

I have a similar device. I have been using the resulting picks for a while, and I and find that I like them as much as the regular Fender mediums. But, I also like thicker picks. On the other hand, it makes a lot of picks for free from credit card offers and stuff, so that is nice.

I play with a pick mostly but I can see that it would be a real quest to find the right material, unless you're one of those who just needs a pick, not a specific one...I am the latter...Tony

I'm Old School enough to have played with a pick, still do for certain things.  Those little picks are OK, but maybe they'll scale that thing up where you can make a Full Grown Man's Pick:
