Post by: senmen on June 27, 2013, 11:13:14 AM
Guys,
when it thunders think about John Entwistle. So it was said...
The Ox has left us 11 years ago - a very long time!
He is still my hero and my bass playing inspiration......
Long Live The OX!

I hope I die before I get old.

I would have never appreciated John Entwistle nearly so much if I hadn't found this forum.  Legends grow old and die, but thanks to our capability to capture sound we can always travel back to a time when they were young and at the peak of discovery.  We live in a fortunate and perilous time.

The album Quadrophenia (in particular the bass parts) changed my life. Only one man could have created such definitive bass parts, he is legendary.

Only one man was brave and / or capable enough to bridge the sonic gap between Townshend and Moon.

It just ain't the same without him...

I have learned this during the course of this life  ;

let that Spider live because  it might be Boris The Spider or you might be left to wonder if your going to Heaven Or Hell  !

That leaves me Shakin all Over

OH

MY

GOD

goosebumps, that was brilliant, I have NEVER heard Skunk sounding better. The only thing that would have made it better is if the OX had his Alembic Spider bass.

Thanks for posting!

Found this related song, the OX with Ringo's All-Stars,
Mark Farner doing I'm Your Captain/ Closer to my Home. There are moments where John almost looks like he is swaying to the music.
