Oh no! Terrible news. I first heard him with Zappa and saw him with Stanley.

He'll be much missed.

RIP George.  The early 70's Zappa band was my favorite line up through the years.  Napoleon, George, Ruth, Chester, Tom, and Frank.  The You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore vol2: The Helsinki Concert is a fabulous snapshot of how insanely good that band was.  Break neck speeds on all of the harder material Frank was doing live at the time.

That bass that Tom Fowler is playing in the video is awfully familiar...

I enjoyed George with Zappa, but got into him more during the Golden Age of Fusion.

His album, Faces in Reflection helped pull me into the odd-meter realm with 'Faces in Reflection #1. The middle anthemic part always leaves me with a lump in my throat. More so now.

I first heard him with Billy Cobham and Alphonso Johnson. I will miss him as well. He was a great player and innovator. Another one down, and another one down..... Gotta go, gotta go.

Bye, George

George was always one of my favorites!  I've followed much of his music and loved the keys he tickled.  Never forgotten and leaving so much for generations to come.  RIP George Duke

Sigh. What sad, sad news. My introduction to him was the Clarke/Duke Project. I was just a kid when came out, but instantly fell in love with George.

Too soon to have to be saying RIP to him.

It's so sad to say good bye to yet another one  with us , in the here and now .  Now he plays in the great band on the other side  with the others who have made the journey in that tunnel of white light all the way through ______  We can still hear you brother !

I send my sincere condolences  to his close friends and family

Listening to Clarke/ Duke - Live in Montreaux right now.

What a joyous energy George brought, his interaction with the audience makes me smile.
