Title: THINKING OUT SIDE OF THE BOX
Post by: sonicus on October 15, 2013, 09:52:31 AM
Great achievements have been accomplished by individuals that have done things a new way and did not comply to the  Status Quo .
Many have had other obstacles in their lives that have made their goals and desires challenging but have adapted by doing things Their Way    I take my hat off to all of you that  Think outside of the box. Jeff Healey was one such example . I loved his sound ! He is jamming in Heaven now .____

Saw him live several times.

Made me want to burn my guitars and pursue another hobby.

His hands seemed to be hard-wired to his heart with nothing in between to interfere with the communication.

As such, he was one of those rare musicians that are able to transcend theory, scales, licks, patterns, etc. and just play purely - inspired only by emotion.

Jeff was an amazing talent who didn't let his physical limitations restrain his passion. Thanks for sharing Wolf!

Loved Jeff Healey.  Used to see him in local bars in Toronto when he was still so unknown you didn't even have to pay a cover.  But the instant he plugged in his guitar, just to tune it, he'd hit a note and my hair would stand on end.  Whatever it is, he had it.

Saw jeff in Glasgow probably only a year or so before his death. He was a fantastic player - better than most IMO - and had a great band.  Thanks for posting Wolf.

Jeff was great and he had a cool radio show on CBC...in a way, his blindness may have helped him be so good; when I play in my band, I often find myself playing with my eyes closed; it's hard to sing and play bass at the same time(and stand upright!) and when it's hard to put one thing on autopilot, close your eyes and at least reduce the mental data stream...works for me...Tony

Next  time that I try to sing and play bass I will try your method . Singing and playing bass simultaneously is something that I need to work on .

We occasionally  do kata with closed eyes...makes for perfect balance
