Title: Viola Organista
Post by: cozmik_cowboy on November 18, 2013, 09:29:51 PM
So, Leonardo da Vinci designed a keyboard that bowed strings, but never built it; now, after 500 years, a guy has built it from Leo's plans and plays it (http://www.popsci.com/article/technology/listen-crazy-piano-invented-leonardo-da-vinci).  Enjoy!

The sound reminds me a lot of the old melodeon organ I own. The attack is almost identical. The notes themselves are very close to the reeds in an old pump organ which are a bit fuller than the reeds in a melodeon.

WOW. that could be reinforcement to any string section...he needs to produce them NOW; any string quartet could add one and sound like eight!...Leonardo is my hero but he even now nudges the bar...wow..
