Title: Porsche exhibit
Post by: keith_h on January 12, 2014, 01:05:11 PM
The NC Museum of Art has had a Porsche design exhibit for the past few months. Went back this weekend to get some pics and thought folks might recognize this one.    Keith

A real shame she left this earth at such a young age...

Those pics of Janis' car are great to see, Keith. It looks in excellent shape. Is that kept in a museum, or is it owned privately?

Yes the car belonged to Janis. It is owned by her family estate and normally displayed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It is on loan from them for the show. According the the history plaque the car is no longer in working condition.

Joey - I wouldn't mind visiting it one day. They had one or two cars on loan from the factory museum.

The show covered the range of street and race cars Porsche has built over the years and went into the various key designers they've had. It also covered some of the internal rivalries that popped up in the time Porsche has been around. All in all it appears to be a pretty balanced perspective.

And all this time I thought she wanted a Mercedes Benz whilst all of her friends were driving Porsche's.

One can just assume she already had the Porsche, just as the rest of her friends  Maybe she was asking for the Mercedes Benz because the Porsche was not in working condition already. Could it be her Lord rather chose to buy her a color TV?

Maybe 15-something years later she would have been singing too about microwave ovens and custom kitchen deliveries, refrigerators, besides the color TVs ... :P (baaaaad joke!)
