For those of you that enjoy acoustic music and in particular ; Blue Grass , in my opinion there is nothing not to like in this recording . In my opinion this is a stellar recording and a good analog to digital transfer. The instrumental virtuosity of the musicians speaks for its self and to my ears .
Jerry Garcia - banjo, vocals
David Grisman - mandolin, vocals
Peter Rowan - vocals, guitar
Vassar Clements - fiddle
John Kahn - bass

This is great! Thanks Wolf!

You are welcome Dave, I am happy to spread it around . There are more awesome free tidbits like this out there where everyone can hear Jerry the multi-insrumentalist as well such as his pedal steel skills.
All the folks on this recording live @ Sonoma State in '73 are so awesome in my opinion. Unfortunately all have left this plane of reality and have passed except for David Grisman and Peter Rowan who are still musically active . Their music leaves a timeless bridge and monument of their memory.

I loved Old And In The Way when the first album came out; it was a very influential album for me and obviously a lot of other people as well. And yes, Jerry's banjo playing is superb; the whole band is great.
You've probably seen this Wolf, but I ran across this interview with Jerry (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVkkbJ_KI2Y) this morning which I hadn't seen before. Very cool; with comments about Neal Cassady, the acid tests, the band's playing style, etc.

Thanks Dave , I will enjoy that with my morning coffee !

+1 on this show...
It brings me back to my summer after freshman year, working at a lobster shack.... We had this, Egypt '78, and The 2/70 Fillmore shows (GD & ABB) in constant rotation....
