Very cool...funny that I was just reading the section in Bill Bryson's book A short history of almost everything, that deals with Oceanography and how little we really know; this project will be a huge jump in knowledge and likely a big wakeup call...Tony

....a new impetus for the conquest of our blue planet....
 
Haven't we figured out yet that conquering the planet is a really bad way to go about things???

I firmly believe that if our species tries to conquer the planet, the planet will eventually win.   We will be gone, but the planet will still be here.

It should be obvious now that we are too stupid to conquer and that conquer is a stupid point of view; basically we should be looking for a way to not turn the whole planet into a litter box...Tony
