Title: Acker Bilk
Post by: Glynn on November 05, 2014, 12:31:03 AM
Oh no - another one gone!
On a positive, I saw John Mayall on UK TV this Sunday.  He was on his own on the Andrew Marr show and stood in front of a keyboard which he played as well as playing a harmonica and also singing. Not lost it.
He is 80 - there is hope yet.

Oh man.
We play Stranger On The Shore in one of the bands I'm in.
Great song, great clarinetist.

listening to my dad's collection of Acker Bilk LP's convinced me to take up Clarinet at school instead of piano / violin etc. I still pick it up now and again, 40 odd years later. Will be listening to some Mister acker Bilk and his Paramount Jazz band before I head out to rehearsals tonight.

We also play Stranger On The Shore in one of the bands that I am in.  If we had known on this last Sunday in time, we could have done a tribute.  There have been some nice obituaries to him.
