Well I have suffered one of these, confirmed by MRI, although I have difficulty in writing and playing the bass I have no facial symptoms or gross power loss on the right.
Doctor said it will return, so statins and anti thrombolytics and R and R for a month.
So much for karate, gym work and healthy eating!
-
Terry , I wish for your recovery and in the meantime I send my healing thoughts for you !
-
Terry,
Sounds like it was caught in time, my thoughts and prayers for a full recovery. Don't give up my brother.
Peace,
Pete
-
Prayers for a speedy recovery.
-
All o' that^, and some more Terry.
-
Hi Terry, we sish you get well soon. Trying to play the bass, might help in recovery to get back. Saw it once here in NL.
Anyway, Healing thoughts from the Netherlands mate!
-
Terry:
Sorry to hear about this. Expect healthy healing vibes from the west coast. Your alembic needs you!

Praying for a speedy & complete recovery Terry. I can think of no better therapy than caressing your Alembic!
-
Sorry to hear that Terry, all the best for a speedy and complete recovery.
-
Sorry to hear that.
Take it easy and relax for a bit.
After you start your Alembic therapy, I predict you'll be feeling much better in no time.
-
Take care of yourself!
-
Terry,
Best wishes for a full recovery. It can take some time and brain retraining so be a patient patient.
Jimmy J
-
Sincere wishes for a speedy recovery, Terry.
-
Jimmy is absolutely correct. Patience is needed while the synapses reconnect or redirect.
You know that you can do it, you've done it before, why won't the body cooperate? Believe me, it will all come together.
Way to go dodging a major bullet. It could have been worse, no doubt.
My prayers are with you mate.

Double post

Oh dear, Terry. Hope you are on the mend, and do mind your doc's orders for R&R, that's usually the hardest one to comply with!
-
That was worth a double-post Slawie. I have also heard the above suggestions, that trying to play, and listening to music hastens recovery.
-
Thank you people for all your well wishes, tried tonight and fingers are begining to work although very slowly, right hand affected.
DVD's and CD's which I never knew I had are getting some air time !
Thanks again!
-
I am sorry to hear this. Rest up, and may you be back to making music very soon!
-
Godspeed Terry. Here's to a quick and full recovery.
-
Sending healing energy to you.
-
Terry,
Healing thoughts and well wishes being cast across the pond for you and your family/ friends.

Sorry to hear about this Terry, get plenty of rest.My brother had a minor stroke several years ago and was back behind his drums in what seemed like no time and is absolutely fine now.I know such things vary from person to person but keep your chin up and take it easy.
Best Wishes from snowy Manchester,
Simon.

That's bad news, Terry, sorry to hear it. Don't lose faith in your ability to heal. It can take time but you'll get it all back!

Terry, you hang in there brother, will be thinking of you. Hey, what the hell, now you've got a good excuse to play with a pick !! I recommend Fender Heavy 355's, (the big, manly-man triangles). Thank God you got a wake-up call. By the time you're good to go again, the warmer weather will be back, and it'll be time to fire up the FireBlade.
All the Best,
Joey

Best wishes, Terry. The guy who taught me my first chords & a box scale (and how to make chili) went through this a few years back; he's playing fine now - no lingering effects. Hope the same for you.

Hi Terry - I just want to join in that my thoughts are with you too.
All the best to you - Ed
-
Thinking about you Terry. Take some time for yourself.

Terry,
Sorry to hear about your situation. Hoping for a speedy recovery. I think as soon as you are up for it you should try to play some. While your playing might not meet your expectations it will be helping to rebuild the connections needed for coordination. Just don't over do it to the point you get frustrated.

Chuck Rainey is back . You can do it!!! Get well soon. Listen to some Electric Funk from Jimmy McGriff, that album can heal anything.
-
Alembicians...I cannot thank you enough for words of support, not many people get a get well wish from one of the most sought after session bass players in the world(JJ) and the co owner of Alembic!
Today I told my sister about you all and she suggests I come and visit you as part of my recuperation!
Thanks again guys, means a lot to me!
(Typed slowly with care!)
-
Terry, I have been on blood thinners for quite a while. I would have offered my get well wishes sooner, but I am home recuperating from surgery. If the docs order that you take the blood thinners, feel free to contact me as I have a lot of experience with the pros and cos of specific ones. Most important, get well, and you can rehabilitate.
-
Tubeperson..thanks for the offer and I will take it up!
As if we all haven't enough to sort out in life without minor strokes amd surgery!
-
Wow Terry!!
Sorry you're going through this. Hope for a speedy and complete recovery!
Ken (TEO)

Best of Luck Terry!
-
Terry, I have a friend who had a stroke a few years ago; he had a stutter for a couple of months and a few other tics for a bit and recovered fully...with the lucidity you are updating, you're gonna be fine, which makes us all happy...recover well and make sure you milk it for extras, whatever they may be...Tony

Best wishes for a speedy, bass-thumpin?recovery, Terry!

Thinking of you with positive vibes and a prayer for full and speedy recovery.

Terry,
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
My 85 year old Mom had a stoke in October, and she is almost back to normal!
Be patient, and your coordination and dexterity will come back.
Regards,
Pete

I had a slight stroke when I was 42. I'm 66 now. You'll be fine, just keep at it.

Must be getting better, played along to 'Birdland' today.
Just seem to be tired through the day though so off I go for a nap...hell I could get used to this!!
-
Wishing you a quick and complete recovery Terry. Stay well.
-
Sorry to hear about this, Terry, but so glad it was just a minor event. It sounds like you are doing all the right things. Onward and upward!
Here's to a quick recovery!
-
Echocardiogram today..awaiting results but it looked okay to me(from my slightly trained eye)
-
Good prospective news. Keep a positive relaxed frame of mind, it really helps!
-
Just got rid of the 24 hour ECG monitor today, did a gig last night with it in place.
Managed to tuck the recorder away but our guitarist asked why I had two radio senders LOL!
Secondly the adhesive pads they used, well getting them off my tender 57 year old skin was, lets say, a painful challenge!
-
Way to bounce back terryc... good for you!
-
One little victory, worthy of celebrating.
-
Great news and you get to play live music again.Onward and upward.
