Title: Guild Maverick bass amp
Post by: mtjam on July 24, 2015, 07:24:41 AM
Does anyone have any experience with this rare old bass amp? I just picked one up a few days ago, and it's pretty cool!

The father of one of my bandmates passed away around five months ago. In addition to being an all-around nice guy, he was also a longtime country music bassist. His wife has asked me to help her identify and perhaps sell some of the equipment he had. I told her to be sure to hang on to his 1966 Fender Jazz Bass which was given to him by his father. It's certainly a great heirloom for the family. He also had 2 Kustom 250 tuck and roll bass stacks. She's hanging on to these for now.

Anyway, I went over to the house a few days ago and among a shop full of stuff I found the Maverick bass amp. It's in decent shape, so I took it home and fired it up. It's a tube amp with a 15-inch speaker. The only problem I see with it is that I should probably get the 2-pronged cord changed to a 3-prong. This thing gets fairly loud, and has a nice tone with anything I plug into it, including guitars.

I plan on buying it, and I will give Mike's wife a fair price. I am honored to have a piece of gear that a friend used to make music for many people. It's going to be a great amp to play around the house.

Anyone have any experience with this amplifier model?

Pictures (https://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&q=Guild+Maverick+bass+amp).  Looks like the blue face was the basic amp, and the red face added reverb and tremolo.
