Not really a fan of his genre of music, but much respect, for sure. One of the classic bassists of my time.

Sorry to see you go, Lemmy.

Lemmy did things his own way in the true spirit of non-conformity and I am sad to see him go. I have much respect for him in many ways.  Lemmy you made a massive mark in history for eternity !

Lemmy was a huge influence on me - I am gutted - decided to do some recording with the doubleneck in Lemmy's spirit and honor - this is what I came up with:

Actually, Rickenbacker & Alembic aren't too far apart - though Ric speciallizes in passive instruments, they are A) Made in the USA, B) usually neckthrough, and C) often stereo (though the classic Ric-O-Sound box has bass & treble opposite from Alembic)

In no ways a fan, but much respect for a long career essentially on the margins of the business.  A testament to a hard-headed self-belief, and a marvel of human endurance:  He lived as hard as he played, and that was very hard indeed.

I like this description of Lemmy: Lemmy makes Keith Richards  look like a Golden Girl.

I'll quote myself from Facebook:

RIP Lemmy :-(

Rock on with Phil, Michael, Jeff, Cliff, Ronnie, Dimebag, Keith, John etc..

The great gig in the sky will be featuring an awesome metal.... sorry, Rock 'n Roll jam!

Thanx for the great music and awesome shows!

And a great quote from Nikki Sixx:

You were always a pilar of dignity.

Spot on!

In 2000 I was onstage when Mot?rhead played, was like a thunderstorm! (the worst kind, right above your head)
The bassdrums were slamming my body hard, quite awesome! :-)

And yes, great tribute Harry!

And with a band that owes their existence/success greatly to the man, so obviousely I also owe him for my privileged position to play my favorite music (And Alembics) for large crowds: Click here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZU-ozANuIRs target=_blank)

Thanx!

As others have said, I am also no fan of his music.  But in a world where Steven Tyler hosts fake talent shows, Carlos Santana does duet albums with people not fit to wipe the sweat off his strings, and Bob Dylan records Sinatra songs, it was always his music; he was steadfastly and unwaveringly Lemmy.  I started the thread because of that - like his stuff or hate it, you can't deny the man's integrity, and his passing deserved notice.

Integrity indeed.
His most valued possession?
His son.

The Ace of Spades has folded.
RIP Lemmy.

I've never really listened to Motorhead, although I went to a gig (a story for another time) but I do listen to a lot of similar music; I guess I will be one of those late to the party people; my guitar player thinks I could do Lemmy in  a tribute band as I kinda have the voice but I gotta play faster...
This was how he was gonna go but music really took a hit with him gone; his influence is almost Beatles; metalheads and punks will proudly wear  Motorhead patches, along with many others; who else can claim that? no one...

I'm sorry I haven't been around here as often as ususal. Just have to say, a couple of weeks on, and I still feel hollow, a lot like aug '95 when I was a senior out of HS flipping burgers, hearing about Jerry. It's much the same bc they were icons. Icons, but still grounded none the less. I kicked off the 'what are you listening to' thread with a motorhead tune, I'd like to reflect on our losses with another:
