Hello Perry,

not much in the file, but here's what we got:

1978 4 string short scale series bass
Schedua top & back
mahogany body
maple/purpleheart neck
Ebony fingerboard
Zebrawood headstock veneers
Mother of Pearl Oval inlays

That's the lot.

Sounds just like mine (78 1180 pictures in the Series I folder) except for the scale. I love mine, although I sort of wish it were a short scale. What's the going price?

This bass is listed at Elderly Music for $3000. It includes the case and cable.
I really need to find a lighter bass with a 1.5 inch nut.I have very small hands and it seems the older I get, the heavier these 10 to 12 pound basses get.

Perry, that bass sat on consignment for months, then sold but was quickly returned and now appears to be the property of Elderly. The price isn't bad, but I'd be surprised if the electronics upgrade has been performed, so I'd tread lightly.

I talked to Eldery about that bass. Has not had the upgrade, and they are firm on the price. I got the impression they are not familier with Alembic instruments. I got transfered all over the place before I got someone who could pronounce Alembic. Questions were followed by periods of long silence. So I tread right to the door, see ya!

Thanks for the information everybody.
I think the best Alembic for me will be a Brown Bass with a 1.5 to 1.625 inch nut.
Right now my main bass is a Les Paul Recording bass with a 1.5 inch nut. It is heavy, though.

Perry,
I own a Brown Bass and like it alot. It is my main bass these days. It has the Anniversary Electronics which gives me the option of going stereo if I want. Also the short scale is much easier to play if you have smaller hands like I do.
