I was the 2nd owner of this bass.  It was a beaut!  I got it from SRICABLA.  It was a long scale, small body with side LED's.  You can't tell from the picture, but it had what looked like some type of rosewood or cocobolo accent laminate under the zebrawood.  I regret selling it too, and have wanted it back myself!  I sold it at the time, because I was over run with basses and this one needed a little work.  It had an injury to the peghead front that bothered me.  If it was not for that, I probably would still have it.  Part of the veneer was chipped away from the face of the headstock.  Nothing serious, but ugly.  I am sure it could have easily been repaired.

I sold it for a song to a friend of mine in New York.  He put new frets on it, and sold it.  I am going to try to search it out for you Steve.  You must be reunited with your bass.  You owned it first.  That was one lovely series one.  Most people would have hated it because of the long scale on the small body.  I thought it was great!

I will never sell another bass.

I can't help myself:  HOW did that itty-bitty body balance with a long-scale neck?

It didn't.  The balance is in my right forearm.  I just hold it in place and go!

Paul - I have owned 3 long scale small bodied basses in the past.  They are very nice indeed.  I have my eye on another here in my neck of the woods.  It is a series 1, but needs a bit of work.  It has a purple heart top and maple back and is a 1977.

Long scale and small body is not for everyone.  I prefer medium scale because I am kinda short myself.  My reach on the long scale is tough when fretting an F.

Hey Michael,

if you ever come across a long scale Stanley that you're gonna pass on, let me know; I play mostly sitting down, so the balance does not worry me.

Dave - The finish is worn off the face of the bass.  Also the screws holding the electronics cover on are stripped.
