I'm looking for a 5 string Alembic, preferably an Essence but others (Epic, Orion) are OK.
Fretless preferred but I will seriously consider a fretted one.
I prefer something at least mid nineties or newer and at least near mint condition.
Price: around $2000
(ignore my post further down)

I have a walnut topped Orion 5-string with signature electronics that I might be interested in selling.E-mail me your phone number to prockenklang@hotmail.com (mailto:prockenklang@hotmail.com) and I will give you a call.

John,
If he's not interested, post any details you might think are pertinent.
I'm not in a position to buy another one now, but I'm looking for a Orion 5 and I have a bass with signature electronics- getting yours would make alot of sense (depending on the time frame you're looking to sell in).

Here are some details on my Orion 5-string:
Walnut top w/maple pinstripe,mahogany back
Signature electronics
It is in like-new condition except for a few belt scratches,2 dings on the walnut by the controls, and a few small dings on the bottom.
It was made in 2000.The serial number is 000w12283.
Asking $2200.00 obo.(does not include case)

I will include a hard shell case! I believe it is a TKL.

I don't have much experience with Alembic electronics. I've tried the ones on the Epic and that's it. How much of a difference does it make?

Devon,
I've only played my bass- which started with Europa electronics and was then upgraded to signature. I have Vol, Pan, Filter, Filter and then 4 switches- +/- bass and treble and a Q switch for each pickup.
Personally, I love having a filter and Q for each pickup- that in combination with a pan is a killer combo for me- probably all I could ever want or effectively use. I love it and will make sure I get something similar on any bass I get in the future.

Thanks Toby,
Guess as long as I'm asking questions: what's the difference between the set and thru necks as far as sound?
I'm trying to hold out for a fretless Essence, but this one is very tempting...

Devon,
I'm not one to speak on the difference between set neck and neck thru basses. There are quite a few here who have both and I'm sure one will chime in before too long.
Also- there have been a few discussions about the differences of late. Here (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=3627) is one of them. There is a link in the 2nd post that will lead you to another thread where it's discussed.
I have a neck thru Rogue and am looking to add a set neck sometime in the future. The one in question here is probably coming a bit early in the game for me, but no harm in asking. ;)
