Title: Series 2 Stanley
Post by: wibbersengland on September 27, 2010, 01:35:10 PM
Does anyone have a series 2 Stanley (or should I say 'small body') they'd be interested in trading for a gorgeous '81 series 1 Bubinga small body? (pictured on the right right) I'd like the flexibility of the series 2 electronics (although the series 1 gives great flexibility and maybe is better - which is perhaps why Stanley still use a series 1...). I have a superfilter already who i use with my quilt maple SC standard.  I also want a fairly recent series 2 as the neck pickup is slightly further away from the neck than they were in the early 80's...(http://club.alembic.com/Images/395/86872.jpg)

Sorry, S1 is on left , obviously!! Also, apologies for awful english!! Not sure why that came out wrongly! Relative proximity of neck pick-up on my S1 compared to my SJ bass is apparent on photo.

Hi , are you interested in selling this bass outright? I am looking for a shortscale series 1 or even a 2 or even a brown bass . Anyway both of yours do look fantastic.

Maybe. Where are you based? I have been advised to keep it! As I will ever (apparently and probably) regret selling.

based in Australia. I have just sold a MK deluxe of which there are pictures a while down this page, which I sort of regret ,except it has supplied  me with the loot to buy the one I really need.

A 'vintage' instrument (or at least moderately early as in this bubinga example) is not the same as a more modern bass. My quilt feels like a 'modern' Ferrari, but it'll never be a Dino or a classic 250!!  What budget have you got? (I'm only asking tentatively as I'm testing the waters here). A deluxe is not a series by far.

Yes I had a longscale 1976 series 1 which was stolen back in the early 90's. Just going by the forum here I see series 1's of this type of era going from $2300us to $5000us, maybe even more. So it would be up to you to name a price that you want for it. Anyway What I need is a lighter bass than the alembics I have owned and a 30 or 32 scale.
