Hey guys,
I'm looking for a Woods amp that's in good condition, and some quality Bag End 12 or 15. Let me know if anything is available. Mostly looking for outright purchase, but I have a few (non Alembic) basses for trade. Whatever.
Thanks!

I just sold my pair of old BE 15s to a whiny SOB in VA. It would have been so much easier to meet you locally. Oh well. I can confirm that, when you assemble all the components, that will be a monster rig. Good luck to you.

Thanks kungfu. To be honest, I don't know too much about Bag End's stuff (other than I've seen a few guys use them and they sound great). I was looking into buying some S15-B's, any suggestions? I'm looking to build a quality Upright rig, mostly for my studio. From what I've read, they seem really heavy (one place has them listed at 52 pounds, but that seems like a lot). Any advice would be much appreciated.

The S-15Bs are beefy. I was running S-15Ds with EV speakers, which each weighed just under 50 pounds. Because of their size and handle placement, if you carry them hugged close to your chest, they're really easy to move. The Bs might be a little bit more work, but they should have more going on in the low end compared to the Ds, which roll off at about 50 hZ or so.
Why do you need an upright rig for your studio? That rig is ideal for stage use IME, but my usual practice is to run through a Fishman EQ into a Countryman DI, which is a lot less work to carry around than 100+ pounds of amp and speakers. Just a thought.

mostly for rehearsals. not strictly a recording space. I'll probably be gigging with them, too.

I'd look into a fEARful for upright. More hifi than a Bag End and a LOT lighter, although the non-hifi thing for upright is cool, too. All depends on what you are going for.

looking into it, edwin. thanks for the suggestion. i just bought a Woods 2 channel Electroacoustic amp (i'll post more specs when i get it)... haven't really had any luck on Bag Ends, though.

I love my Bag End 15. not sure which model, but it's 200 W RMS w/ no tweeter. not super heavy at 44 lbs. very responsive and fast for a 15, plays more like a 12. haven't tried it with an upright though.

FWIW - I actually prefer my Bergantino HT-112 to the Bag End S15X-D for upright. Prefer the Bag End for everything else. Don't know if it's a Bergantino thing or a 12 speaker thing.
With the F1-X I can even get a really good arco tone out of it.

I use the Bag End D10BX-D, Berringer BX3000T, but, for ultimate control (for me anyway) I use the EBS Micro Bass II and that pre amp has been the answer to my sonic prayers! In addition, to add more presence, I will plug the Micro Bass into the house(mixer) and the tones that are genreated are simply georgeous! I say whatever use decide on using, purchase the Micro Bass!
It is awesome indeed!

So after my search i ended up with a BE 15 and a Woods Electroacoustic. I'm getting a LOT of white noise from my Woods, ranging from inaudible at low volume to noticeable at normal rehearsal volume, to being a problem above that. Is that normal? any suggestions?

Not normal. Call Walter. He's exceptional.
