I have been wondering for some time - where are all the really early Alembic models??
Apart from Keavins serial no.12 There certainly arent many on display here at Alembic heaven!!
Why is that?? Many bass builders sites proudly display serial no.1's and other early models WHERE ARE THEY ALL? Why wont the proud owners display them?
I would love to see more REALLY old Alembics - a glimpse into the past often proves extremely insightful and very interesting.

John,
You can find some pictures in the Alembic history (http://www.alembic.com/family/historyintro.html) section. There are also some in the Showcase in various places but it does take some digging.

The Peanut (boat oar) guitar I was foolish enough to let go of is in someones closet in the NW somewhere.
The owner posted a pic a couple years back, that was the last I heard. It's been a real exercise in non-attachment to get over that one.
It would be really cool to hear recordings where the early instruments are used....like pictures, some notes can be worth a thousand words
...love that good old wood.

Keavin, I totally N-V you with such a pre-historic Rock of the best Bass in the World.
Man, if I own such a piece, I would have it cased in glass with lasers alarm triggers.
What a lucky guy you are -- to behold such a gem which hands who created, are now in the the hands of God.
I believe your bass is worth more than all newer basses period!
HOLD ON TO IT!
-
What newer basses you asked?
My answer -- Any and all UP-DATED (New) Alembics -- and yes, including the Infamous Dragon Breath dawned by the Great Stan the Man, Mr. Stanley Clarke.
Your bass embodies the hope and dreams of great risks of failure, but in the end won the hearts of the most talented musicians in the world.
Yeah, you have something only the owner(s) of Alembic #1 through #11 can rival. However, after
that, the value of yours is the King of the hill.
Enjoy Brotha MAN and our memory, of you goes down through history too!
You have Alembic #12. Dam, that's a mouth full.
Peace...

Very nice pics Keavin - thankyou! The history section here at the club is extremely interesting but I would still love to see more of the first run of Alembic basses!
