Greetings to all. I Want to buy an Essence 4 string. There's a blue 1991 model on ebay. It's been on there for several months and that leads me to the conclusion that maybe the seller's asking price of $1595 is a little on the optimistic side. The bass shows it has not led a pampered life. I've seen some examples in very nice condition sell in that general price range, but couldn't afford to buy right at that time. I could be happy with the blue one on ebay if I could buy it at a reasonable price. Would greatly appreciate any insight that club members could provide. Thanks

Yeah, that one's been up for a long time, and it does show a fair amount of wear. That seller has consistently high prices. Always some cool Rics, etc. I would try to contact them directly and negotiate a fair price.

Make him a reasonable offer, worst he can say is no.
If the bass is in technical good conditions, the price is not that bad for an Essence, maybe the color is not the most sought for?

If it didn't have so much wear that would be a steal. With the wear I'd say it's a fair-ish price.

I negotiated with the seller and we reached an agreement on price & terms. Sent first payment today -and I'm now a happy owner of an Essence.

That's great news, congratulations!

Awesome! I'm glad it's finally getting a good home.
