I have $550 I can spend right now paypal, no fee, or money order/bank check.
Never should have sold mine....
-
May be able to come up with a few more bucks.
-
Looks like I have a long wait ahead until one of these shows up. That's ok, it will be worth the wait. I will spend more than $550 as well.

Asking the universe to make an SF-2 available.

Here's one but it's a new one (open box), you might not like the price but if you know what it is and know how to use its potential, why not?

This is going to sound really stupid but, what does a sf2 do?
I'm not really into rack stuff, I just plug in the bass and turn on the amp. That's why I never looked into these or the other thing...f1x (maybe that's what it's called), what do these things do? Are they the same thing, or different? Better? Worse?
I'm not trying to hijack Craig's thread I'm just wondering. And good luck with getting one, Craig.

It's kind of like the filter in an Alembic bass, except there's two of them, they can be run separately or together, and they can be run as either low-pass (like on standard Alembics), high-pass or band-pass, so lots of tone sculpting possibilities!
One advantage is that you can use it with any bass/instrument, so it's kind of like an outboard preamp as opposed to one built into the instrument. I have used mine a lot to improve the sound when I have recorded my bass, like in this thread (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=1871).
