This is kind of interesting. Apparently someone swapped out the bass and treble controls for a filter and Q switch from a Signature bass. I'm under the impression that such a change is not a direct replacement; so this is a bit intriguing. A picture of the control cavity might be interesting. Included are the original bass and treble controls and the second filter and Q switch from the Signature. Also comes with a non-factory repair of a cracked headstock and six screw holes in the back; but no hardshell case.

It is interesting. But wouldn't you have/need a different preamp set up to run the filter/Q arrangement?
-
I don't know the answer. It was my impression that just swapping out the pots wouldn't work; but I don't know that to be true.

The preamp for the Epic is on the bass/treble module. When you swap for the filter/Q, it's no problem, since there's a preamp on the filter/Q board. The filter/Q in the Signature is totally compatable in this situation.

Thanks Mica! I have learned something new today!

Interesting (and nice) to think there's that much headroom for upgrades in the basic instrument design!! Thanks indeed, Mica.
