Why not just go to Sam's Ass or Garbage Center. You can buy a new Tascam for $99 every day. They sound ok (it's a cassette after all), but are all cheap crap plastic and won't last forever. Beat it up and throw it away when it breaks. I use mine for my guitar lessons. I record my instructor playing the rhythymn/melody/comp lines, and I improvise over the top and record it to hear how badly I'm playing, LOL!

A friend of mine has 4 (count 'em, 4) E-Mu Darwin 8-tracks for sale.  Email me at john@indstate.edu (mailto:john@indstate.edu) if you're interested and I'll give you his email address.
