Title: Guitar Soundclips

As some here may know I'm looking to buy my first Alembic and I've done a fair amount of sluthing but can't seem to find any good clean soundclips of Alembic guitars so I was wondering if anyone's got a secret stash they're keeping from the general public or could point me in the right direction of clean Alembic guitar soundclips/records.

Sorry Garrett, I can't help you other than offering my Alembics and studio to try them out in, if you should find yourself in Oakland.  Of course if you should make it out this way, it's only a hop, skip, and jump up to the mothership (1 hour north).  
 
One thing though, I have to say that I have never understood judging guitars, basses, amps, effects, etc. based on soundclips heard over the internet.  I would think that the sound you hear is more a factor of your computer speakers than anything else.  Just my $.02.  
 
I can offer that Alembic guitars are unusually clean, clear and present.  Every note is heard.  Some have described it as almost acoustic-like, other as piano-like (especially Series instruments).  Of course this also means that every flub is right out in the open too.  It seems to be a fairly common experience that most new Alembic owners go through where they find that any slop in technique, while hidden on a Strat or Les Paul, stands out like a sore thumb when playing an Alembic.  As a result, most people report an improvement in technique as they play their Alembic more.  
 
One thing I will offer, which you've probably heard before, Alembic guitars are not the best for heavy metal or other types of music that call for lots of distortion.

Thanks, Ibpesq. I understand what your saying about the speakers. And about the cleanliness of the tone, that is my biggest factor. I've owned a few guitars and even built a couple looking for just that and I'm hoping Alembic is what I'm looking for. I don't play heavy metal, and hell I barely if ever hide behind distortion, I think you should cut through the mix with tone and technique not fast playing and volume swells.

I play my '78 Series I guitar primarily through Fender Deluxe Reverb or Fender Blues Junior Tweed. (Sometimes I run stereo through both at same time.) I like to start with clean sounds and go from there. Beautiful, powerful clean tones are how I like to start. As I have said in other posts I am still finding tones on my 'Myrtle.'
 
I hope to someday own a Tribute.

Both of my Alembics have Skylark controls. With both pickups on, the switches on bright for both and the filters turned all the way up, the guitars sound EXACTLY like amplified acoustics. It's quite amazing. You can't beat the clean tones. I, however, am a pedal whore and can't exist without OD/distortion stompboxes. You can get an Alembic to sound good through these devices...it just takes a lot of experimenting. Don't get me wrong - I love my babies - nothing feels or plays quite like 'em. But the day Alembic finally agrees to put in a PAF and Super Distortion in one of their guitars, I'm buying two!!!!!

I agree Jonathan.   I had the pickups purchased to do just that to Pele.  Still have one of them.  Maybe the day will come...  For Pele, not Alembic, of course.

Pitchforks!  I want pitchforks!  Axe handles! And torches too!  And Mel Brooks!  Puttin' on the Ritz!! Frau Bluecher  nnnneeeeeeeyyyyyyyy! BLASPHEMY!!!!  (Hey, Wolf had DiMarzios, or something like them.  Jerry was cool with it.)  A hybrid just might be sweet.  Of course two guitars works too.  And any excuse for more guitars can't be all bad.  lol

pretty impressive coincidence Bill. Young Frankenstien was just shown on UK TV over the weekend. One of my favourites and also one of the first 'AA' certificates I ever saw - think the eiger sanction was the first - you had to be over 14 to get in.
