Title: 1981 Series II for sale
Post by: tim_doty on July 15, 2008, 11:34:39 AM
This bass was purchased by my brother, Jesse, for his partner as a special gift.  They were in a band together in LA.  Jesse's partner died in October and Jesse has become disabled and no longer able to perform. We are asking $4,000. it is in excellent condition.

Hi Tim; very nice bass!!

You'll want to let people know whether you have the original case and power supply as well.

There seems to be some kind of minor problem with the saddle for the D string, the string spacing is off and the saddle has been adjusted forward all the way to the rail; but it looks like something that could be easily addressed.

Also the bridge pickup is cranked up all the way, and the neck pickup has a funny angle. In the last picture, I just hope it's the camera lense/jpeg compression distorting the perspective, or that would be a seriously twisted neck.

What is the scale length?

It looks like the D string may just be out of the groove.  That neck does look warped.  I would be interested to see some more pics of the neck at various angles.

Thanks for your interest and comments.  We have the original case; we're looking for the power supply.  It's a long scale.  The D string was out of its groove.  I have put it back.

 The pickup is angled.

There is a small 'crack' on the right side where the neck meets the body.

The neck appears warped due to the weird slant of the neck pickup, I think. I don't think it's actually warped.

Beautiful bass-good luck with the sale.

I think that the D string being slightly off is making it look warped, too.

Sorry folks, I've been out of town for a few weeks and pretty busy when I returned.  We can not find the power supply so the cost of a new one would be included in our original asking price.  Gary Davidson (a senior member)lives near to me and will inspect the bass first hand and then post his comments on it.  We will then proceed with the sale.
