As most of you, I spend some time of the week on the Alembic Custom Quote, dreaming...
But every time I get to the inlays, I get lost. I cannot find the pictures or images of them.
I saw Stickk's thread, asking for the Birds of Pray inlay pictures, and thought that perhaps, we could get a new sort of showcase thread, showing all the special inlays Alembic has made. I'll put up some pictures that I have collected over the internet and this forum. So if you see something that looks like your bass, it probably is!!

Love the Dove.
Pictures don't do it any justice, you should see that Dove in person. Susan and Mica really did a great job on these.
Here are the others on the same bass.

They are all great works of skill & art..is there any other bass manufacturer on the planet that does this unique and elaborate work.
An absolute joy to see
-
Who can tell me about the burled beauty at the top?
-
Looks like a 25th anniversary model in burl walnut.
-
Unfortunately I can't help... I found the picture over the internet, but with no description... But is one absolutely amazing piece of art...
Greg
-
Interesting that all the frets except the first have inlay on the burl.
-
Superstition perhaps?

Double post, sorry...

Ran out of money maybe?

I'm guessing, but according to the 25th anniversary page, the first fret was left blank to allow the owner to have their initials inlaid there. I'm guessing the shot was from the mothership to a buyer. Wish we could see more...
Ken (who's customs all have Elvish runes)

Vann; it case you missed it, the page being referenced about the 25th anniversary bass is here (http://www.alembic.com/info/sterling.html).

Ah, I see this quote stated on the thread Dave pointed out. Thanks!
We leave the first fret position blank and can put any inlay there you like. Ben decided to leave his blank until he comes up with a good idea.

A few - I didn't notice any basses, but have you checked out Grit Laskin's (http://www.williamlaskin.com/) work?

There was an inlay set in an Alembic fingerboard I saw here a while back but I don't know where it is. I remember the owner of the bass calling it California Gothic. It was palm trees, crabs, and other really cool stuff. It was certainly not real ornate, but beautiful.
Anyone know the bass?
-
Michael; I thought this (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=8492) was it, but I see from your post to that thread that it is not.

-
Birds of Prey Inlay, anyone?
-
Stickk; I've looked but haven't been able to find it.

That's it! Pineapples, flamingos, and crabs!
I really like those kissing dolphins on the other pic too.
