Another victim of the economy: for sale is my 1973 Guild Starfire II Bass. Rosewood board, Natural mahogany finish, factory ordered Stereo. In 2001, I had a local luthier pull the frets and install maple ghost frets (I already had my fretted Epic), otherwise the bass is all original.
several pix in another thread (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=6852)
The bottom side of the neck is rough, the finish has started checking, and the case is on it's last legs. It's still playable, and the electronics work. This is a working bass that sat in it's case for 20 years after the 70s. I never play it anymore since I got my Alembics, and never came up with the cash to upgrade or modify it. Make me an offer...

Mike,
That looks like a terrific bass. I'd hang onto it if I were you. You had it all this time....

NIce bass , I still have a 1965 Guild Starfire that ALEMBIC installed a brass bridge and block and string nut in at the old 60 Brady St location in 1975.That one has been in my fleet since 1974.If you look at a posting on this site of Bass's that have had ALEMBIC work done you will find another Starfire Bass that has clear amber ALEMBIC trapezoidal pick ups with PLUTO FILTERS;that was also my Bass , I sold that one in 1978, I was amazed to see it after all these years on this site .

Hello Mike,I Bet that Starfire of yours would really show a lot of SONIC character with somePYRAMID GOLD flat wound strings .have you tried those ?

I love this bass. It was my first truly professional grade instrument, and no I never tried Pyramid Golds. At stage volume I could make it sing.

Well then ; we share a common ground regarding these Starfires, because mine was a high school graduating present from my Mother in 1974.It was purchased from an Alembic customer who had it strung with Pyramid Gold' strings. I believe these strings were an Alembic preference at the time. In my circumstance as well My Starfire' was my first professional' grade instrument.
