Title: Ribbecke Halfling for sale
Post by: Bradley Young on March 22, 2010, 12:00:40 PM
...at Bass NW.  Here's the link:  Ribbecke Halfling (http://bassnw.com/Used%20Basses/ribbecke_halfling_BV_acoustic_electric_bass.htm).

I also took some pictures on my  blog (http://randomdesiderata.blogspot.com/2010/02/ribbecke-halfling-for-sale.html).

I think that someone (Joey?) did a review here of the Halfling; suffice it to say that this is a very fine instrument, it's in great condition, and has enough tone to fill a 55-gallon drum.

For the right party (so I know it's going to a good home!) I might do a private sale, so please contact me if you're interested.  I'm not so hot on shipping, but the folks at Bass NW would definitely take care of you in that regard.

Good luck with the sale Brad.

These are great basses. I was lucky enough to play Flax's 5'er a couple of times.... If only it was fretless....

I was able to play a four-string at George Gruhn's here in Nashville several years ago.  Ya know how you pick up most ABG's and they just don't sound very bass like?  These DO.  Amazing. Pricey, but if that kinda dough is no problem, these are exceptionally fine.

I'd have never believed you could that get that kind of tone out of a large jazz box-sized axe. There's a LOT going on acoustically in these things (I'd see Ribbecke's website for a rpoper explanation, it's part of all that Kasha stuff).

I'd give anything IF this could be farmed out to Samick or somebody in the Orient to make these at a more affordable price in mass production.  But don't ge me wrong, Ribbecke's work is very good and the price is reasonable for what it is and how it was built.

Sure gonna make somebody a real keeper!

It certainly has some magic going on; it sounds unlike any other acoustic I've heard.

I would be willing to trade for an upright bass of similar value (possibly with cash going either direction).
