I see... I was just on my way back from this gorgeous shop that sold beer and longdrinks... ahem, I mean water and lemonade, of course.
Great picture of some very nice people I got to meet that day... your fans are fantastic, and many people in former East Germany are unbelievably hospitable and breathtakingly lovely and kind. It was a wonderful experience, besides the great show and tight music you were performing during this night. Just nobody cared about the heavy weather...
-
Hi, Oliver!
Wow, your bass looks so... wunderbar, mein gott!!!!! :-)
THe pictures are nice, and I like the empty glass on the third picture, in front of the singer... I guess it was water and lemonade, of course... :-)
Have a nice day!

Guys,
well, the bass is still available.
I would love to see this bass in the hands of a forum member. The bass is still in perfect condition. No scratches, nothing, except that the brass has tarnished a bit. I don?t want to ruin this bass taking it to more and more live gigs.
Many thanks for looking.

That's the only issue I see owning beautiful Alembic basses. They're so beautiful and expensive that we are sometimes afraid to gig with them. I use to leave my Alembics home and gig with lesser brands all the time and unless you're a wealthy collector this is a waste. Basses NEED to be played. Talk about a double edge sword! If you don't get any takers soon my opinion is play the bass, use it and enjoy! I didn't, i sold my Alembics and now I kick myself for it.
-
I gig with mine when the venue calls for them. I used an Alembic Essence exclusively in Iraq. I used my SC Std in Korea on numerous gigs. That they're beautiful is a bonus. But the reason we own them is we like how they sound and play.
Speaking only for myself, I've used every Alembic I've owned, past and present (to exclude my Series II - haven't had the opportunity yet) on gigs. And I had no qualms doing so. I buy them to play them, not put them in a museum.
As for this bass ...
I hope it goes to someone who will play it, either in their home or someplace else.

Alan, Raymond,
you speak from my heart....
Raymond, yes you are right. Maybe I should really keep it.
Well on the one side I have the problem to not ruin the bass during live gigs, but on the other hand I don?t want to let this unique bass go for a fraction of the original costs.
Well, seems that this bass is really destined to be in my hands.....

Oliver, unless you get what it's worth I think keeping and PLAYING this bass is the right choice. Like I said I sold mine for the exact same reasons you stated, I didn't want to damage such nice and expensive basses on a gig (I sold all 3) but today I totally regret it! I wish I would have at least kept my Stanley Clark Standard and 88 Persuader. I miss them and because I've stopped gigging can't aford to replace them. Don't make MY mistake because you'll eventually regret it.
-
Agreed. I let an old Short Scale Series I go and I am still regretting it.
stoney.
-
Well,
I will let it go.
Price lowered to USD 6500 plus shipping.
Would be very happy if a forum member would take it.
Many thanks for looking.

Where are you? Stateside?
-
Hi Dennis,
no, I am located in Germany.
You could read about me everywhere here in the forum or in the net.
Let me know
Oliver
-
I'm on my way to band practice. But, thinking about this axe now. Is it a 34 scale bass? Series I right? I looked it up on the archives. They made more than one (apparently). Any idea of the costs of shipping over seas?
-
Dennis, yes it is 34 scale. No, it is no Series 1 as there is not enough room for that kind of electronics. Originally I wanted to have that but Mica said it is not possible so I went for the next closest possible electronics, so I went for the 20th anniverssary. The bass is complete custom and was meant as a reminessence to John Entwistles original Spyder basses in using the same woods. Shipping costs might be something around 200 USD but I would need to have your adress to check that. You can email me at: senmen@web.de (mailto:senmen@web.de)
Thank you
Oliver
-
Oliver, your bass looks really great!!! I guess it must sound impressive.
I wish you a good selling for this beautiful instrument!
Have a good day

Guys,
bass is still for sale.
No one interested?
Will lower the price to USD 6250 plus shipping.
Thanks for looking
Oliver (Spyderman)
-
I would buy it but I spent my money on my Triple Omega I am convinced Alembic does it right.
-
Bump!
-
No bump anymore, bass stays with me, finally.
Oliver (Spyderman)
-
OK, guys, we might as well tell him. Oliver, it's a conspiracy to keep TFJ at home. No matter how many times you change your mind and relist, we're not going to buy; that one is yours.
Peter
-
Well Peter,
I just came to that thinking too.
I think that it is just JE who is doing that from above.
Well this bass seems to belong to me.
