Hi guys remember me?! LOL
It's been an unusual last couple years for me.
Looks like I may be selling a couple of my MK basses. Both are 5 string but totally different. You can see them here.
2005 MK Quilted Maple (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=8687) $4000
1998 MK Burl Maple $3500
Both basses now have THG custom knobs.
I just don't play them any more, I stick almost entirely to my Custom Series II and my Spalted Maple MK.
The Burl maple is a 35 scale and has the best low B I've ever heard (even better than my S-2 5 string).
The Quilted maple I purchased new from Beaver Felton at Bass Central. This one has LEDs on the top of the fret board.
Anyone interested I can send current pix to just shoot me an email.
Thanks,
OO
PS. I've also toyed with selling This Series II (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=8297) but am not 100% sure about that yet. Will entertain any offers though.

Hey Olie, long time no hear. How you doin'? Beautiful instruments but they seem to be missing a string! hehehehe
Bill, tgo

WILD BILL!! whaazzz up. Yea long time no hear from me.... I've been just so slammed for time the past year. I've never worked so hard for so little in my entire life.
Hope it gets better in 2011. LOL

Good to have you stop by Olie! Great to hear from you again. Best, Art
-
Hey Olie, best of luck with the sales.
I'm going to miss your basses, lol. Still keeping the Spalted? Must be lovin' the 3/4 scale body.
-
Mike-EEE, howdy stranger! Yea I play the 3/4 bodys the most, especially that one with fancy Sunday go to meeting neck! LOL.
I hadn't even picked up the 2 MK 5's in at least 6 months. I just hate to see them set there and go to waste.
OO
Thanks Art, I MISS YOU GUYS! LOL
-
Yup, that's some expensive paneling. Making me think that I need to play the fretless this Sunday. Sure way to make the sound guy's eyes cross.
To anyone that's looking, Olie takes great care with his gear. The MK5 is in pristine condition.
-
The new owner will be a lucky person. Such Beautiful instruments.

Hi Olie!

Hi Dave, how is everything?
-
Everything is good. Each day continues to be quite fascinating. And I'm still learning how to play a six string bass. Hope everything is good with you as well.

Looks like Steve is picking up the Quilted Maple bass today guys.
The Burl Maple is still available if intrested though.
Thanks, OO

Alas Sir Olie, the fates laugh at me again. If I didn't have 2 new basses about to arrive, I would have gone for it. I always loved that bass. Perhaps I'll get another shot at it again. Perhaps in another life?
-
Hey Olie!
Nice meeting you and I enjoyed our visit.
It was even nicer leaving with that simply gougeous Quilted Maple! Soon as I got home I ofcourse plugged her in and slapped her silly.
After a while I realized how easy playing this bass is. Almost effortlessly. You did such a good job on the set up I'm not sure if I even need to tweek it.
I love my Rouge and Essence but I beleive this one just moved into first place!

Hi Danno,
Perhaps in another life?
Well perhaps in the next life but hopefully not in this life
Hum ....next life..... Heaven with Alembics!
Steve
-
They do bring a bit of heaven to us every time we play them. I've been extremely blessed with these instruments. Some may say too much. Olie's gear has tempted me before but I couldn't take advantage despite his gracious and generous terms. Timing is all they say. So hopefully a person's dream can come true and benefit from these beautiful creations.
-
Whazz-up! Danno, the Heavy-Metal- Mentor (I assume you're still teaching). Yea that Burl is a cool bass and very different than what you have. Perhaps one day....
Thanks for the kind words Steve it was very cool meeting you too. Glad you like the bass, needless to say it was a bitter-sweet moment for me, but I am glad it now resides with someone who'll make good use of it. You'll deffinately need to make it to the next North-Texas gathering.

Sounds good....guess it would be ok to bring along a guitar player.
Steve
-
Hey Danno
I thought you were talking about the quilted in your earlier comment.
My comments was just an attempt at comedy and were not mean't derogatory. I really hope you get one in this life

thanks Wolf.
just got home from my first 3 hour jam with the MK. I just tweeked the neck a little over an eight a turn and found my sweet spot.
This bass fits me just right and is balanced almost perfect! i think I'll be playing this one as my main squeeze for a while.

Hey Danno,
The photo doesn't do the Burl justice.
It is even more beautiful up close!
I wish I could've walked out with both of em!

Hey Olie, isn't Texas overdue for a gathering? :-)
-
As matter of fact, the guys have been talking about that very thing.
-
Great! I've been emailing Mike (Groovelines) about getting one together. I'm new to the club, just got my SC Signature Deluxe in February, so I would love to meet some fellow Alembicans in Texas! I listened to the recording y'all did at the last Dallas gathering, & Mike said he thought that was you doing the solo, good stuff!
-
By the way....as well as being a fellow Alembican, I ride Harleys too! I have a 2002 Wide Glide & 1997 Softail Custom. Kinda hard to tote the bass on the scooter though!
-
Warning - thread being hijacked.
I get my Steinberger on my Harley with ease (which is the only reason I got that bass). Two weeks ago I bought a Gibson Lucille and got that one on my ElectraGlide with some creative bungeeing. But a full-scale bass with a hard case would be a mite challenging on a bike...
OK, now back to the regularly-scheduled thread.
-
I'm going to hijack it for one more post - all this talk about bikes and basses. Back when I was at Ga. Tech, I jammed with a buddy in North Atlanta regularly on the weekends. Had an Ibanez Musician then, and no wheels, so Hutch used to pick me up on his bike Friday afternoon. The only way to transport me and the bass was to sandwich it crossways between us with me hanging on the back . . . then north through Friday afternoon traffic in Atlanta. I'm sure the wind drag of that big bass case cut the bike's mileage in half . . . and one good headwind and I'd have been sailing across I-85!
Man - to be young and dumb again. (okay, maybe still dumb, just to be young again)

IS THE 98 MK DELUXE STILL AVAILABLE?
