Title: '77 Series I Short Scale
Post by: 365kit on June 27, 2006, 03:43:43 PM
I'm playing mostly double bass and 5-string so this
player has been in the closet.  Weather-checked with
honest player wear but big sound with long sustain.
While I learn to post pics, is anyone interested in
giving her a new home?

It's getting crowded here.  I exchanged emails with 365kit shortly after this thread was started and asked for more info/pics.  He said that it will be coming soon!

I did too, but the serial number he gave me went with a whole 'nother bass, and had nothing to do with the instrument described here.

Just curious, what # did he give you?  Hopefully it is not a Fernandes.

77763, but then thought it might be 77783.

That seems that it would be in the right range. 77-763 or 783.

A search of this site shows #77-763, and its a five string. Don't know about 77-783, I have not looked for it. I'd do my research before buying.
You can type 783 into the search engine at the top of this page.

What kind of wood is that? Koa?
Are the body wings a solid piece or does it have front and back laminates?
I'd also be curious about a price...
Thanks,
Charles

I've got a search posted to get exact specs.
Serial #77 783.  The 8 is punched faintly and
looked to be a 6 but it's not.  The body has a
mahogany core and front/back laminates. I'm
not sure about the laminates - perhaps flamed
walnut?
I do remember Alembic replaced the fingerboard
over 20 years ago and there is one replacement
tuner.
$3400 with case, cord and power supply.

Drool...

I wish I was in a position to grab this bass. Instead I'm just going to take deep breaths and chant over and over again, Someday there will be another....

*sigh*

Hello 365kit,
I wonder if the bass is still available. Do you have more pics ( headstock front/back etc)?
Thank you, Juergen

Hello Scott,
somehow we lost touch via email...
Are you still interested in selling the bass(unless you sold it already)?
