I am putting out a feeler to sell my 1977 Series 1 (77-822). It has a oil/wax finish. Top and back are bleeding heart, as are the neck lams, and the body is mahogany. Scale length is 34. One ding on side near controls, but not very noticeable. Sound is awesome and there is no static. Power supply and cable included.
Pics available upon request.
Please let me know if you have any interest.

Bob,
I assume it is the large standard body being a long scale? If it is a small body I might be interested.

Large standard body.

As I suspected. Thanks.

Bob,
I'd love to see some pics. I love oil and wax finishes--and I don't think I've ever seen a bleeding heart top. Any idea what you would like to get for the bass?
-
I think you're unlikely to ever see a bleeding heart top. Bleeding hearts are a couple dozen different species of flower and I don't believe any of them produce wood.
In short, I suspect that Bob meant purpleheart, particularly since he said the same wood was used for the neck lams.

You could be right and I could be mistaken. My recollection from the original serial # check was bleeding heart. Sorry for any confusion.

Must be a liberal bass! LOL

LOL. Too much gardening on my part.

Maybe bleeding heart is the same as Bloodwood? Click here (http://www.alembic.com/info/hkguitar.html target=_blank)

Could be. My Series 1 is a beautiful purple-red color. My decision to sell has been VERY difficult, but I am buying a used Alembic 5-string and have principally played 5-string for the last nine months.
-
I'm curious. What is the used 5-string that you are buying?

Up on eBay now~
Good luck Bob

Thanks, it was a hard decision, but I have been spending most of my time playing 5-string, including a recently acquired MK5 reference in the link above.

Bob,
I'm in the same situation. I *almost* bought a used Series I about 5 months ago from a club member, but had a family emergency arise which diverted the funds I had set aside.
Now I find myself playing stuff where I really need the 5. I'm waiting, I've got a deal worked out with another club member for one of his 5's when the time is right. If you had posted this a few months back, I would have jumped all over it.
Good luck~

Thanks, I appreciate it.
Regards.
