Post by: alembic_doctor on August 16, 2006, 05:05:02 PM: am selling my 1994 Alembic Europa 5-string bass. This really is an amazing player. Lots of Sustain. And talk about Mud Flaps, This baby's got em. There is so much Big Bottom in this thing that it is almost scary.

This bass is truly 99.99% Mint. And yes, I did play it a lot. I have taken good care of it. I do not have a hard case for it. But, one can be purchased from Alembic.

I believe this bass was first sold in Austin Texas and then traded in. One of my previous clients purchased the bass in Austin. He held onto it for a couple of years and then traded it to my store a few years ago. The moment I plugged it into a PA system, I was floored and hooked by the amount of BASS this thing produces. I traded my 5-string Alembic Essence for it.

This bass has been recorded on a couple of New York Dance Club albums.

$2900 obo.

Is this the original colour of the bass or has it been re-sprayed.?
All the best with the sale. I got one off a guy on the forum last summer and they are fantastic basses.

I generally prefer natural finishes myself. But when I plugged it in and felt that big bottom, it was all over.

As far as I know, Alembic made this in White for the original owner.

I'm only selling this to help pay for the Rich in Musical History Series II that I just got.

But I wonder: I wonder what's underneath it? Other makers of course use wood that is fine sonically/weight-wise, but not the prettiest for use in clear/tint finishes. I can only imagine ALEMBIC probably has nothing that fits that description, but I wonder what it's made of?

The ebony Rogue 5 I got from you at GS is my main bass. I set the switches like you, bass boost, treble cut, Q on. I turn the filter all the way open, with TI flats. It's got a strong low D through a 15...it's a great club bass! Good luck with this Europa. What scale is it?

Post by: pmoran on August 27, 2006, 05:18:27 PM: As the ever correcting/ever guiding clubmembers know, I've owned alot of Alembics and expressed some humblingly ignorant opinions which have been corrected faster than an incontinent poleman at the top of a 250K volt metal tower; however, I've seen at least 3 of these in the last 2 years and they're beautiful. My only Alembic, having sold the legendary Mandarin, is a 4 string Europa w/side LED's and I love it. It's a rock-and-roll dream! Plenty of punch. Plenty of thud. I can dial it all in! Muddy. Clear. It's all there............plus a light show! Europa's rule and I think we should welcome this seller to our fold and sing the praises of his bass. If I weren't selling my Surine Esprit S/N 001EX 5 string to fund my fretless 5 string Surine, I'd buy this thing. IMHO, it's absolutely beautiful!
