Cocobolo. Nice bass, John. I might have to talk to you about that after tax time if no one beats me to it.

Hard to get the right light on this dark bass without creating flash glare. I should have taken it outdoors for some natural light...but it was starting to snow!

I thought it might be Cocobolo  . I wish you were closer for me to check  it out.

Aha! Figured out how to make those small pix large. Now is there a way to delete the smallish ones?

John -
I believe only the site moderators can delete items that were posted more than 24 hours ago.

VERY nice Distillate and a fair price - makes me want to start a collection. :-D

That upper horn looks longer than my 84' - was there a body design change?

Agreed, very nice bass and very reasonable price. Versatile electronics, too. Good luck with the sale.

@ Pauldo - Looks to me likes it's the extended upper horn option. Probably a nice feature to have.

I'm interested. I've already got one in walnut and this would be a very nice companion.  What's the scale? Is it a 32?

I thought all Distillates were medium length? And the extended upper horn is only found on a few. I prefer it.

Beautiful bass. The top looks like cocobolo but Mica would need to confirm that. Distillates are 32 medium scale.  The upper horn was lengthened in 1985 for better balance, so pre '85's will have a shorter upper horn. Another change around 1985 was the removal of LED next to the input jack, so some '85's will have it, some not. I have had my Distillate for several years and it  still amazes me, great basses.

I'm actually guessing that the top might be Bocate, based on how some of the grain seems to try to overlap.

Yep she's mine now, I just wanted to say if it weren't for this board and the people in it I would not have pulled the trigger in this purchase. Thank You  John and Dave

Wow! Congrats Pete! Now you have a Persuader and a Distillate. Looks like another has fallen to G.A.S. Wonderful affliction. Enjoy!

Hey Nick,
You did warn me. I figured I would start with the discontinued models first to see what I missed. The thing is that these Basses are so uniquely different and as a bonus I get to play around with 3 types of Pickups. It's all good.
Peace
Pete
