I've beat myself up enough about this, so here goes. I have a beautiful fretless Elan 4 string that I don't play enough. I like it, but it's not the first bass I reach for and honestly I haven't put the time into it that it deserves to master (although Rush's "Freewill" does sound pretty cool on a fretless). Transparent wine finish, J/J pups, V/P/Filter with Q, Chrome hardware (the truss cover is plastic, as is the electronics and battery plate), small chip through the finish on the headstock. What I've been thinking is to: ? Have it fretted and sacrifice the cool LEDs at the 12th fret position. Or . . . ? Straight up trade for a comparable Alembic. That would be a fretted Elan - double J, or P/J combination. Or a fretted Orion. Yes, an Orion. My first Alembic was an Orion. They are extremely comfortable to play and look pretty freakin' cool, too. I have no interest in Essence or Epic models. I'm not setting a dollar figure on this, let's talk if you think you have something you'd care to swap. If you want to buy it out right we can still talk, although I prefer to have another Alembic instead of cash. Here are some images; I can send larger ones to interested parties. Looks red in the out of doors photos, but actual color is closer to the headstock image. Respond via pm using the link in my profile. thanks, Mike

Thanks a lot. I have been admiring the craftsmanship of this bass. I unfortunatley have no electric bass of value (I'm big in acoustic). How much are you looking to make in a sale?
-
Hi Tony, you replied before I could edit my post, lol. Every Alembic I've held has been well crafted.
I'll send an email to the address listed in your profile.

PM sent!!!

Lots of activity today and I've been too busy elsewhere to keep this updated, my apologies.
There is an offer on the table. There are also additional inquiries. Parties have been contacted and these will be tended to in order of offers made, thanks in advance for your patience.
thanks,
Mike

Groove, I would love to play the fretless and bid on her as she is a beautiful bass. Realistically though I don't have the time for fretless and have my hands full getting time on my current gang of three. Good luck with the proceedings, she is beautiful.
-
Thanks for the well wishes. Gang of three, alas after this one leaves I will be Alembic-less.
To all. Due to unexpected medical expenses from yesterday (hospitals aren't cheap) an out right sale is preferred vs trades. Sorry if this upsets some plans.

Mike, I hope things are okay with you and yours.

Thanks, John. Human beings just break down from time to time. Tell ya, what. If you want to help, take a ride so we can enjoy another one of your inspiring photo-logues.
-
Planning another one in September, but won't make it out to The Mothership this time.
Getting old sure makes me wish I'd taken it easier on my body when I was young. I hope you've got a good mechanic and the break down is slight and temporary.
That's a beautiful bass you're selling.

Mike, for what its worth I've been to the mechanics a few times. Not all my parts are factory original anymore. I'm very grateful for the procedures though as life was becoming unbearable. If you need a good hip specialist I have two I can recomend that specialize in different procedures. Best of wishes,

Thanks, John and A. I've been patched up a few times. This go round is my wife and then my youngest needed a quick trip for x-rays. It'll all work out and we'll be back to our normal state of pandemonium in a few days. Thanks again.
The bass is pretty indeed. One thing I do appreciate about this sale is the opportunity I've had to speak with club members off-line. Invariably the sale is forgotten for while and talk shifts to gear, experiences, common ground. Great bunch of people here.

Someone is getting EXCITED

Sold, packed and ready to go. I'm glad to report that it's going to a good home.

@ groovelines....have to agree that it's a great bunch of people here.
I'm a newbie, have learned much, and it's been a hoot so far. Don't see it changing.
Alembic devotees seem to, well, get it like no one else.
Looking forward to posting pics of my very first one...as soon as I find her.
-
Out for delivery.
@yogalembic - Happy hunting. I've had three, and sold three. Different in many ways, but alike in their purpose and a joy to play.

She made it here in great shape. Without lines is going to take some work. Put some 1/2 rounds (D'Addario)and they sound pretty good. I have DR Highbeams on my fretless Jazz and wanted the same for my new Elan, but everywhere I checked, they were sold out. I think that regular nickel roundwounds that I use on my Rogue would be a little rough on my fingers, so I shied away from them.
Thanks Michael for working out the adoption. Hopefully, we'll cross paths soon!
A quick question for the experts on the board. This Elan has 3 batteries, one in the control cavity and two in a smaller separate compartment. Are the two separate ones for the LED's located at the octave spot? If so, I might forgo the LEDs, since I don't play in the dark.

Yes ,your right about the 9 volts.
Looking forward to pics of her in her new home,
She's a beauty,

Hi Stephen, it was a pleasure getting to know you.
Take your time, let that muscle memory develop. For me, once I could reliably find low F I let my ears take dictate intonation more so than the side dots. It wont take long!
