I'll be getting a 2000 Excel Bass on Thurday and would like to know how you guys who play a Excel like them. Tone wise. Thanks

Isn't the tone one of the things you consider *BEFORE* purchasing an instrument?

I've got 4 with a 5th on the way. They have more mids than a neck through but have a wide rang of tones available. Mine have more elaborate guts than standard but are still punchy and can do what is needed. They are comfortable, look great are a good value. You will be very pleased.

The Carvin just wasn't doing it for you? You are moving from a high quality neck-through to a very high quality set-neck. My recollection is that your Carvin was Walnut while the Excel is probably Ash. Between the differences in construction and wood, I expect you are going to hear a lot more midrange and punch. I just read Danno's post... What he said!!! I think you'll enjoy it.

You can't consider tone until you hear one. I been playing bass for 35 years and never hear one live or came across anyone playing one. I going on what I read about Alembic basses.
