Well,
just got the proof that the Hard Rock Cafe also owns John Entwistles V-head Spyder pictured on the cover of the Too Late The Hero Album.
Another great Alembic and JE bass destined to hang at the wall. :-(

That bass is worth Millions!
-
but only to those who want to pay millions.
Remember the Bass of Doom thread...Ox sounded great whatever he played
-
Terry, I'm going to stick my neck out here and say that on the Thunderfingers documentary, when he's demonstrating his rig and showing off what must have been his last set up before his demise, his tone was atrocious - far too much processing going on to hear what he was playing.

jacko..yes I remember that, and have to agree, it did sound over processed, not the sound you associate with The Who.
I wonder what he was thinking there, there is a YouTube clip of him doing a great solo but he uses loads of distortion on his Status Buzzard

Guys,
as beeing the JE in the german WHO tribute WHO ARE YOU I like his Alembic Era sound best. The Spyders with the Sunn rigs were best.

Many years ago I used a SUNN 2000S top with a dual throat folded horn cab containing an 18 inch JBL. I remember how I used to rattle the Liquor bottles behind the Bar in the tavern with that rig.

I agree with Oliver... it is sad that all these amazing instruments are just hanging on walls or in glass cases never to be played again.
-
Olie,
What is the location of the JE V-Head Spyder?
-
Rich,
to be honest I don?t know yet.
Haven?t found out where it is at the moment, yet....

I saw the V-Head Spyder at The Hard Rock Park gift shop in Myrtle Beach, S.C. I begged them to let me play it, but of course No was all I heard. Now the park went belly up and it's under a different name and ownership so I'll assume that all the memorabilia is somwhere else.
