I bought this new in 1980 from the guys at Bag End sound. It is in great shape. The frets were changed and are still perfect. I want to buy or trade for a Fender Strat 1965 reissue.

A guitarist I know may be interested. What are you asking? BTW put Alembic pups in there with some of their electronics and I bet it would sound great.

Being as I currently have an Alembic Strat set sitting around doing nothing, this Blackknife would be an interesting new home. Are you interested in cash or a trade for something other than a '65 Strat reissue?

For trade I'd consider another reissue or maybe a USA build. Not to be elusive but I have no idea what to ask for cash. If you are interested make me an offer and I can check out what they are going for these days. Thanks!

Keith:
Are you only interested in a Fender? Might you be interested in a Les Paul or a PRS? Also, check out Daion (http://www.daionguitar.com/electric.php)- manufactured at the Yamaki factory in Japan from around '78 - 83. Far superior to most Fenders, IMHO. Or maybe a Guild Starfire IV?
As to value, The Blue Book Value on the most similar listed Black Knife model, the Vintage Custom (Model GIS3VT-C), ranges from $1000 for 90% excellent condition to $1150 for 95% excellent + condition, to $1350 for 98% mint condition. I've seen them listed for a little more on eBay, though I don't recall if they sold for more. As you might imagine, they don't come up on eBay very often.
I'd be interested in trade, cash, or a combo.

Bill,
Thanks for the info. No more Les Paul's for me. I don't like the short scale, weight, etc and like PRS but want to stay Strat. Let me check out the prices for the BK and get back to you. Thanks for you patience!

Is the Blackknife still avail?
-
Yes it is.
