Interestingly I can't see any wiring to allow the bass to be run from batteries as well as the DS-5, although the foam in the battery cavity shows signs the kind of wear that would indicate batteries have been used in there previously.

Nice bass. The type I am looking for but not at European prices.

It should be able to be rewired for batteries however being an older model I would not be surprised to see them die a lot faster than a newer series.

It's the kind of bass I'm looking  for too but the price is a lot more than I'm willing to pay for a bass that age.  Additional cost of moving the selector switch an getting the battery power capability restored is a factor too.  Sure is a sweet bass though. I hope you find the right buyer.

I only use by '81 s1 with external power. It sounds awesome and is way better than my '97 modern standard small body. Don't let the age put you off. My '81 is almost identical to this one. It's very special.
