i found this guy by chance on ebay while looking for mandolins http://stores.ebay.com/Antoniotsais-Guitar-Mandolin-Arts_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZQ2d1QQdptZ0QQftidZ2QQpZ2QQtZkm (http://stores.ebay.com/Antoniotsais-Guitar-Mandolin-Arts_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZQ2d1QQdptZ0QQftidZ2QQpZ2QQtZkm)
so low and behold he had 2 basses for sale. so i grabbed this one for 500$ delivered to the US. ships form taiwan. he has lots of inlaid guitars to sell. but i do caution to check the feedback. Seems most of the negs are on his acoustic intruments. his electrics look awesome and there are some neck throughs. i would ask if you see a bid on them from my friend bill-lpesq- to kindly respect the bid. this luthiers work is worth checking out. needless to say i have no clue how it sounds and will report back in my guess 4 weeks

Beautiful inlay!!!
-
I remember this bass was identified as a Peavey. Very nice work for not much money. He also sells just the neck.

what does it sound like compared to your alembic?
Does it sound as good as it looks?
-
Hey! are those titties on that neck????,,,,give the bass-player some!
-
he didnt refer to it as a peavey
and since i mentioned i dont have it yet...
i can tell you how it sounds
btw0- this seller does not answer emails as i wanted a breakdown on the electronics-and i asked if he was building a dragon neck for this.
ues he does sell guitar necks by themselves

Jeff; this is a nice looking bass. I hope it sounds as good as it looks.
I find most of the inlay work by this vendor to be a bit excessive and lacking in subtlety. But this comment based upon my personal sense of asthetics. I tend to prefer the inlay work of artists like Grit Laskin who pay closer attention to the grey-scale of every piece which they choose for a given inlay project. This vendors work clearly appeals to enough people that he can do a great business.
Having said all of this I must say that your new Bass is lovely and tasteful. and very easy on the eyes.

who asked e?
i really dont understand people sometimes.

Jeff- I think this bass is a beauty. And for only $500? The inlay alone is worth that and if it sounds good too, that's just a bonus.

I would be very reluctant to send 500 bucks to a foreign country over EBay to the vendor who does NOT answer EMails. You have ZERO recourse.

went through paypal- i have recourse through them

It looks like they added an inlay on an instrument that does look a lot like a not-overly-expensive Peavey-or-Fernandes-or-what-have-you.
If the lady tickles your fancy, why not. If you're looking for a bass that sounds and plays remotely like what you've become accustomed to with Alembic - no way.
-
And what's with the fret that crosses her girdle - it looks bent out of shape!
-
guess we will all have to wait and see. my guess its the photo....
seller did answer on shipping q

Purdy bass Jeff.
Looks like Keavin likes it too.
It looked like an Excel at first glance. Nice inlay..the collection expands..and now you'll have an excuse to look at your 'fingers' when you play !
Man, I just cleaned my spectacles, she's wearin a girdle ?
You should have many an hour playing and looking.

My guess is you'll be playng the 6th fret alot from now on jeff. i know I would ;-)

Excuse me for my poor choice of words in my non-native tongue, but Merriam Webster OnLine does give a woman's close-fitting undergarment often boned and usually elasticized that extends from the waist to below the hips. I won't comment on the boned bit, but okay - what's the proper word here?
-
I'd say it looks more like some sort of long skirt. She could be wearing a girdle underneath though (to hold it all together). We'll have to get Jeff to strip the top layer off the inlay to find out;-)

Sorry Adriaan..The word just stuck me because I havent heard it used in a long time. It is correct in that context.
That garment seems to have gone out of style years ago around here..either that or the elastic is far weaker than it used to be.

i think its a long skirt,,,,,,
time will tell
-
there is now a dragon inlay version available
very pretty
-
It would be nice if those nipples were LEDs.........got milk???
-
well i just got this- pretty good delivery
yes caveat emtori- or whatever
there are 1 maybe 2 uneven frets and your eyes were better than mine.. i cant say at this point how badly they affect the notes. need to open the backplate to see how the controls work
may be a master volume and 3 tones- does sound very good though.needs a little tweaking on the intonation.
i looked over the dragon currently on ebay and the frets appear to be better
-
Jeff, congrats! Worse case, consider going fretless... It would kind of blend with the topless theme... FWIW
-
jeff, did you sell your (our) persuader?
-
yes
-
just wanted to follow up
after going through paypal i was offered a refund upon supplying a trakcing number
so before i did that
i put on new TI flats
reset the string heights and lsightly increased the bow in the neck
aside from 1 fret that was sitting high- ah pliers did the trick with a couple of taps
it actually sounds pretty good and i cant hear any difference on the frets in question
so i am going to keep the tittybass.
it will come in handy now the direwolf has to go back to alembic
