For what it's worth, the owner here comes up in Google a lot:

Including as a bass player/vocalist and tsunami relief.

If it IS real, he's sending out lots of weird/bad vibes!

Hi this is Kevin Thomson the origional owner of the base on E-bay now. My son is selling for me. please cut him some slack he is doing the best that he can. I am not playing a violin about my medical issues they r what they are and i did not know he was going to mention that fact. Selling this bass is one of the hardest emotional things I have ever done. When i bought it I wanted to buy the best bass on the planet and in my view i did just that. The people at Alembic were always wonderful to me. Thank you in advance for understang --- crap i can't even wright this note. I will try to answer some question though my son. Thank you for your understanding. I am just too close to this for me to respond directly.

Kevin

There are two Series II auctions getting a lot of discussion.  This is for one in Minnesota, not yours.  All we've been saying about yours is wow.

Wow indeed, and questions about the bridge which doesn't appear original and might be a whammy.

The auction above(Tsunami relief?) ended with a bid of $8K.  Was there a BIN on the listing?  What's wierder is the same seller has the same bass listed again for $6K at http://cgi.ebay.com/1982-Series11-Collectors-Alembic-4-string-Bass-guitar_W0QQitemZ7421666229QQcategoryZ4713QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem (http://cgi.ebay.com/1982-Series11-Collectors-Alembic-4-string-Bass-guitar_W0QQitemZ7421666229QQcategoryZ4713QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem).  I noticed the original auction included some messages about what sounded like someone else using Emails trying to represent himself as the seller.  Anybody smell fish?
