I was at Bass Northwest today and they had a GORGEOUS spalted maple 5-string with ebony fretboard and oval inlays. Played absolutely beautifully, in wonderful condition too.
They're asking $2500 and it hasn't been posted to their website yet as the guy who handles that is on vacation until next week. I would have been the new owner but I'm looking for a darker topwood.
-
Thanks for the heads up. I'll be interested to see the top, I love some spalted tops and can't stand others-
I've requested a picture if they can manage it before the web guy gets back.
-
I just took a gander, but didn't play it. I agree with Hunter, it is gorgeous.
-
I'm still waiting to hear back from them. I will call if I don't hear in the next 24hrs or so.
Can either of you compare the top to anthing in the showcase section or woodbank here?
I've got an itchy trigger finger right about now.... =)
-
If anybody else is interested in this Rogue: pictures of the bass will be up on the Bass NW website towards the end of the day on Monday, 7/24.

Very nice top....

very nice price... would that be used or demo?
-
Indeed...I'm kind of hoping someone buys this quickly.
I've been searching for a neck thru 5. The Rogue isn't my favorite body shape, but this is a nice used one. I've finally got the $ saved to buy something- the cash is burning a hole in my pocket at this point. =)
-
Thats funny, my cash did the same to my pocket. Sad to say I lost it all... anyone found it? -LOL-

Rogue isn't my kind of body shape at all and I have already an Europa 5 with the same electronics package and sounds phenomenal.
Thanks anyway.

I agree- I'm not a huge fan of the Rogue shape and I could do without the cone peghead, so this bass is the combination of my 2 least favorite Alembic shapes....
I'm sure it won't sit there for long at that price. Someone is sure to snap it up quickly and I'm sure they'll be a very happy bass player.
-
Well, somebody has to be different so here goes... I think that bass is awesome! Of course I happen to own the same thing only with a wenge top. It's a great sounding bass and they'll probably have to bury me with it even if I don't really play it too much anymore...

It's not my favorite, but I still had to restrain myself from an impulse buy. I'm hunting HARD for a 5 string fretted neck thru- not many come up, much less Rogues at that price. If it had been a Wenge top, it would have been on it's way here now, but the body shape, top wood and cone peghead were just enough to make me show some restraint. =)

At that price it is awful tempting.... If I didn't already have one I'd be tempted too. That's a very good price considering what that unit would cost new...

It's a used model but in excellent shape all around. Maybe a half dozen very very small nicks, none really noticeable because of the spalted maple top.
-
They only do 30 day layaway and 25% non-refundable deposit. Otherwise, I would have snagged it. It is a very good price for a very good bass. I hope someone buys it before I can figure out a wat to justify another bass.
-
went and played it yesterday... gorgeous top, but i kind of fell in love with that modulus fretless vintage j, and had to walk away with it. still up for grabs.
-
I love the tone of the Dingwalls they also have, but my mind keeps on wandering back to the amazing sonics coming from that Rogue...
-
Graham/Austin,
They've got an Epic 5 there as well.....if you happen to wander in again and have time to have a play, let me know how it is.
I'm searching for a neck thru 5, but if I can't find one, I'll grab an Epic while I save the $ to get my dream Elan built!
