Hey,
I was writing back and forth with Brian the other day, and he wants strong money for it, which is too bad...strange slogans aside (is that Biblical?) it's an awesome bass.
-
Hi,
I had a few emails back and forth myself on this one with Brian, I dont know where the quote is from, but thats pretty cool. Ive never seen that shape before small standard with an Omega
-
Now that I look at it more it looks like a regular sized King bass with a shorter top horn?

That one is familiar. I noticed that one on Ebay once before. I don't remember the slogan back then. It may be something new. I don't think it's biblical. I'm thinking fortune cookie.

It's neither. It's from Goethe. Most recently revived in mainstream pop consciousness in the movie Almost Famous, where it is spoken by the mother of the main character, played by Frances McDermid.

oh man. we're gettin deep now.

Anyway...I saw that bass on eBay too, Michael...it's been fixed up (Omega reattached, electronics tweaked to run on batteries) since then...asking price is $4500.
-
that's a shame :-(

The quote has also been attributed to Basil King

Wow, don't you know that guy was sick from whatever he was drinking and/or smoking the morning after that 'stuff' was scratched onto his bass.
REminds me of a biker friend who vowed to get his motto RIDE TO LIVE' tattoed on his shoulder. The guy doing the work was as messed up as my friend, who passed out during the process. Woke up to find he was now adorned with the inspirational phrase READ TO LIVE -- LIVE TO READ..
-
Can't think of a better way to promote reading. Doubt if it appeals to the biker crowd though ...
-
This is a Series II, right? How far off the mark is this one considering its condition at $4,500.
Opinions, ideas...
-
I paid a little more than that for my 89 S-2, but its in perfect condition.

Off topic...
I remember reading a story about a guy who designed his own tattoo, and made the tattooer use the design as drawn. After it was done, they realized he had Scared for life tattooed on his body. He meant Scarred for life. D'oh!
