i think it has been relistied a few times with the opening bid dropping about 100$ or so each time.

I seem to remember it was in the ballpark of $1900 but I could easily be wrong.

Not sure of the original price either... The current auction is using the same pictures and incorrect text as well, (1980 was first year of the Distillate not '85). Possibly a dealer in Colorado is flipping it for a profit, many dealer are doing that these days. It is unwise to use the exact listing as the previous owner, it tends to raise suspicion given EBay's scam environment these days. It is a beautiful bass though, good feedback for the seller too.

The original BIN was $1500.00 IIRC.
I was looking at it with thoughts of lust.

$1500 is correct. The seller snatched it up before I could get it. That was like August last year. Relisted with $800 markup.
It's been relisted several times. Nice bass but I really just don't know about this price $2295. The asking price has not dropped below $2295. I contacted the seller the first time out and he wanted $2795! I have the original auction info but I don't think it appropriate to list it here. If you want I'll email it off line.
It was bought once at a higher price but the deal fell through. The seller didn't elaborate further.
Also the statement that 1985 was the first issue has been addressed. It's not, but that point doesn't seem to get corrected in the listing.
Sure is a nice looker though! Even if capitolism and the price hike make it a matter of how much do you want it, it's a free country, a fine bass, coco bolo top I believe, and the seller is content to wait it out until his price is met. I think with a lower starting price the bidding frenzy might get him his price. IMHO.
